apple tree
We have a young apple tree in our front yard and this year it gave us some amazing fruit.

This is a sort of self portrait. The objects representing various parts of my life.Not really. Its just the junk I have pulled up in my studio and I thought it would sound better if I said that they had some sort of meaning.
Franklin Park

This is our guest room. It has great windows and rich colors that look great in the afternoon light. The painting in the painting is a piece that my grandfather brought back from his visit to Spain in the late 60'sSOLD
Railroad Bridge
There's an old abandoned railroad bridge north of Bloomingtion that sits in the middle of a farmer's field. It still gets some traffic since it's the only way to cross the gully running through the field.
Wind Farm
This is my first effort since being home from Madrid. The wind farms of Illinois are quite impressive, stretching on for miles. If you stand at one end of the farm outside of Bloomington and look toward the other, it goes as far as the eye can see. If you've had the chance to visit the prairie state then you know that's pretty far. Another interesting thing about wind farms is that they are built right on top of existing farms. The corn and soybeans grows right up to the about 10' from the base.
Pintura Rapida '08
Here's the final result of the 2008 concurso de pintura rapida en El Buen Retiro. No prizes but a lot of fun.
Cocedero, vino
The grapes are put through the window to the left and then are squashed by hand/foot. The juice drains through the hole in the floor next to the vat where it is collected. Then it is lifted up into the vat with buckets, where the wine ferments for 6 months before being transferred to oak barrels for a year or more.
Wild flowers
These flowers were picked out in front of our building, from a small plot that the dogs (and the kids) take care of business. The day lilies I added because the curtain competed too much with the central flowers. The orange brought the purple forward so that your eye can focus on the flowers and not jump back and forth.SOLD
Fruit bowl
In the apartment is this great side table, very heavy Spanish mission style, that I've really wanted to put into a piece and we had a couple of cold windy days so I decided to do something inside and utilize the table.The tiles at the bottom is my little tribute to Dutch painters. Read 'The girl with the pearl earring'.

Petanca is a game similar to bocci but with fewer rules and without the constraints of a specific court.

The Retiro park in Madrid has amazing kids playgrounds, too many to count. Some of them have some of the best playground equipment I've ever seen. (giroscopic things that you climb inside and spin to your heart and stomach's content).
Here is a humble slide with Spring rising up in the background.
Old man and the cypress trees
There's a section of the Retiro park in Madrid with these great sculpted trees and the old men come and sit under them and chat about the day.

Toledo telephone pole
SOLDSome friends and I were walking through Toledo when we happened upon a small plaza that had nothing to do with tourists and in the middle was this ancient telephone pole, still in service. very cool.
