About Me

My photo
Chad Sanders
Bloomington, Illinois, United States
Curiosity and beauty can be found in the most mundane and simple things. This is what I have learned living here in the prairie. We do not have spectacular land formations that other parts of the country do. We have subtlety. Contours in a field, wisps of clouds in the sky, simple wild flowers, these make up the beauty of the prairie. As with most of nature, it cannot be reproduced completely, but can be interpreted in a manner that the artist sees fit. This is the path that I have followed, as interpreter. I use the stroke of the brush to express the movement and life of an object, to bring more to the subject than a 2D depiction. The subject maybe warped or misshapen, this is because we rarely see things as static. If you want to suspend something in time take a photograph, this is what they are good at, but a painting should be more. It should convey something beyond the tangible. Something that you feel in the back of your mind. Like the taste umami. Satisfying but you’re not sure why. I hope you enjoy what you find.

As you can see by our large obnoxious promo. Ken and I have gotten it together for our Open house on Nov 6th at 4:30. Come enjoy some interesting artistic interpretations and great food by up and coming chef James Cowdery. Following the open house we will be venturing downtown for the monthly art walk to visit several galleries that will be open until 8pm that night.
Hope to see you there.
