About Me
- Chad Sanders
- Bloomington, Illinois, United States
- Curiosity and beauty can be found in the most mundane and simple things. This is what I have learned living here in the prairie. We do not have spectacular land formations that other parts of the country do. We have subtlety. Contours in a field, wisps of clouds in the sky, simple wild flowers, these make up the beauty of the prairie. As with most of nature, it cannot be reproduced completely, but can be interpreted in a manner that the artist sees fit. This is the path that I have followed, as interpreter. I use the stroke of the brush to express the movement and life of an object, to bring more to the subject than a 2D depiction. The subject maybe warped or misshapen, this is because we rarely see things as static. If you want to suspend something in time take a photograph, this is what they are good at, but a painting should be more. It should convey something beyond the tangible. Something that you feel in the back of your mind. Like the taste umami. Satisfying but you’re not sure why. I hope you enjoy what you find.
